Oxfam thinks big about curbing corporate power

You can listen to this post by pressing play

Oxfam published “Inequality Inc” earlier this year: a blockbuster report with big ideas about how to tame corporate power, from curbing monopolies of market power and information, to making shareholder payouts conditional on fair wages and climate goals, to limiting private investment in public services and encouraging social enterprise.

Critical Takes talked to Alex Maitland of Oxfam about:

•  How the report came about (to 03:07)
•  How would the world be different if these ideas were enacted? (to 06:11)
•  Ambition versus pragmatism (to 08:37)
•  How might all this actually happen? (to 10:43)
•  The need for inclusive conversations within civil society (to 13:12)

See pages 50 to 53 of Oxfam's report for the full list of ideas. It's well worth reading!
